Few days left before the Deadline of the 2023 Learner Admission

The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal urges all parents and guardians who have not secured school spaces for their children, to ensure that they do so before the deadline of the 2023 learner admission, which is 30 September 2022.

Early this year, the Department alerted the public through various media platforms, that the learner admission process had started on 01 March 2022 until 30 September 2022 and now parents and guardians have a few days left to the deadline. The expectation of the Department is that by now, parents should have applied for their children in the minimum of three schools as per the guidance of the Department on various media platforms.

Parents who have not applied for their children are advised to do so before 30 September 2022. It is important for parents and guardians to note that learner admissions are for Grade 1 and Grade 8 learners. However, in those few schools in the Province that go up to Grade 3, Grade 4 learners will be admitted. Beyond 30 September 2022, the Circuit Offices will only be dealing with cases of learners whose parents applied, but could not secure spaces due to various reasons. The Department wishes to alert the public that no enquiries of parents who did not apply will be attended to, as that puts undue pressure on officials.

“We urge parents and guardians to cooperate with the Department in this regard, with the view of ensuring smooth learners admission for the 2023 Academic Year,” said the MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal, Mbali Frazer.
