The Political Week ahead in Parliament

President Cyril Ramaphosa appears in the National Assembly (NA) on Tuesday to Reply to Oral Questions on a wide range of issues including the challenges of illegal immigration, gender based violence and the deployment of the South African National Defence Force to South African borders.

The National Council of Provinces(NCOP)  will hold a Ministerial Briefing Session under the theme: “Measures to mitigate against fiscal leakages and their impact on service delivery” with the Minister of Finance, Mr Enoch Godongwana and Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
 
 On Wednesday, the National Assembly(NA) will hold a debate on Women’s Day under the theme: “Women’s socio-economic rights, empowerment and resilience.

The same sitting will also hold a question and answer session with Ministers in the Peace and Security Cluster, which consists of Defence and Military Veterans, Home Affairs, International Relations and Cooperation, Justice and Correctional Services, Police and the Minister in the Presidency.

On Thursday, the NCOP will consider the Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Bill and also debate the socio-economic impact and threat of the production and trade in counterfeit products under the theme: “Waging a concerted battle against the production and distribution of counterfeit products.”

On the same day, the NA will debate an urgent matter of National Public Importance under the title: “The economic impact of theft and vandalism of public infrastructure” and consider the Performer’s Protection Amendment Bill and the Copyright Amendment Bill.

On Thursday, Speakers from various national and regional Parliaments across the continent are expected to converge in Midrand for a two-day Conference of Speakers of African National and Regional Parliaments.
