How About Trotters And Beans For This Cold Weekend?

We were just about to celebrate the exit of winter and the dawning of autumn, however, we may have to bring back those coats and scarfs as Johannesburg heads to a rather slightly chilly weekend. If you were planning a braai to continue your women's month festivities you may have to consider a rather warm meal for this weekend to help you get through the chilly days.

 If you are like me and you are caught between a rock and a hard place you may need to rethink that outdoor chilling session and replace it with a nice cozy set up of warm meal but still maintaining good conversation and embracing the little moments that count. As you reprogramme your mind, journey with me as we try out a new recipe of trotters and beans that may just be ideal for this chilly weekend, yes let us try out mouth watering recipe by  Kennedy Mutton Market together.

Trotters and Beans

Quarter (0.25 Servings)Half (0.5 Servings)Default (1 Serving)Double (2 Servings)Triple (3 Servings)

 
½ A dozen trotters
 
½ tsp turmeric powder
 
1 tsp ginger and garlic
 
2 cinnamon stick
 
2 bay leaves
 
2 star aneese
 
Salt to taste boil till soft
 
1 large onions finely sliced
 
2 grated tomatoes
 
2 stem curry leave
 
4 tbsp Masala
 
1 tsp garamasala

Soak 1 and a half cup beans in boiling water for 2 hours

Add oil in a pot, then add onions and fry on medium till golden brown

Add the tomatoes, curry leave and masala and braise on low for 3 minutes

Add the boiled trotters and Beans and stir

Sprinkle with garamasala and cook on medium for 15 minutes

Garnish with dhania
