Amakhosi Ajabulile in Polokwane

Kaizer Chiefs secured their first victory of 2023 with a convincing 2-0 victory against Royal AM at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday night.

A clinical and a top class second half performance by Amakhosi saw Sfiso Hlanti score his first goal of the season after he own a free-kick in a dangerous position.

The resulting cross by Kegan Dolly was met by a powerful header from Hlanti in the 60th minute.

With rain pouring heavily Amakhosi also continued to apply pressure on Royal AM in a bid to score a second goal.

The fans present at the Stadium also played an important role as they continued to cheer the Glamour Boys on at a pitch where the Soweto giants have enjoyed much success.

Chiefs eventually got their second goal in the 85th minute as debutant Christian Saile used his pace and skill to eliminate the Royal AM defenders and provide an assist for Ashley Du Preez to set the crowd to a frenzy.

Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane was pleased with how the boys came to the party and the way his team stuck to the plan.

"As for Saile, I am happy at how he came on and showed hunger to do well, he gave us the energy and physical presence that we needed infront," Zwane said.

History was also made as Chiefs defeated Royal AM for the first time in 4 occasions, the victory takes Amakhosi to 27 points, 4 points behind the second and CAF Champions League spot.

Meanwhile Royal AM see themselves languishing on position 12 with 21 points.
