The City of Ekurhuleni is set to be without a Chief Whip. This is as Kheta Shandu resigned from this position yesterday.

Yet another council member is out the door for Ekurhuleni. This is as the the City council’s chief whip Kheta Shandu announced his resignation yesterday. 

Shandu is the second council member to resign this year, with council member Pieter Henning having resigned as ward councilor this week as well.

With Shandu’s resignation effective immediately, a new chief whip will have to be elected soon.

Shandu was facing a motion of no-confidence alongside the Speaker of Council, Raymond Dhlamini. 

With the news of Shandu’s resignation, eyes are on the City of Ekurhuleni council, as a planned sitting is set to take place today.
