City book spot in last 8

Manchester City became the first team to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 2022/2023 FA Cup on Friday night.

City did so after narrowly defeating Arsenal 1-0 at the Etihad stadium, a solitary goal in the 64th minute by defender Nathan Ake was enough to see Pep Guardiola's charges knockout fellow premier league contenders in the 4th round.

The two sides settled for a stalemate in the first half of the match with Manchester City knocking more often than the visitors.

The citizens wouldn't have to wait for too long though as Jack Grealish provided the perfect assist for Nathan Ake to just pass the ball into the net, much to the relief of coach Guardiola.

The goal meant that City would drop in their own half as expected and Arsenal threw everything at them even bringing on the likes Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Ødegaard in a bid to score and level the match.

However it wasn't to be as the defence of City along with Stefan Ortega were on top of their game.

With the teams yet to meet this season in the league, Arsenal will look to redeem themselves when they host City at the Emirates stadium on the 15th of February 2023.

With more FA Cup 4th round clashes taking place on Saturday and concluding on Sunday, the Citizens will know the fate for the Quarterfinals on Sunday after the final match.

Tomorrow's notable FA Cup 4th round fixtures are as follows

Manchester United Vs Reading

Fulham Vs Sunderland
