Dondol Stars shock SuperSport United

SuperSport United are out of the Nedbank Cup courtesy of being eliminated by ABC Motsepe League side Dondol Stars on Wednesday evening.

In a David v Goliath encounter, Dondol won the match 2-1 as goals by Relebogile Molefe and Suprise Monama were enough to see the side from Pretoria cause an upset to Gavin Hunt's charges.

SuperSport broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Siyabonga Nhlapo headed in from Jamie Webber's corner to give Matsatsantsa a Pitori the lead before halftime.

However, Dondol came back into the second half looking to exploit some weaknesses from their opponents, and they surely were able to do so as Molefe equalized in the 50th minute.

Gavin Hunt made some technical changes in a bid to adjust to the pressure Dondol was exerting to the PSL side but that pressure proved to be too strong for United as Monama's low shot took a deflection and wrong-footed goalkeeper Ricardo Goss to make it 2-1 to the third-tier side.

The ABC Motsepe League Gauteng side held on to claim a famous win which eliminated the five-time winners from the competition at the first time of asking.

Meanwhile it was raining goals at the Peter Mokaba Stadium as Sekhukhune United humiliated Liver Brothers 6-0 in another Nedbank Cup encounter on Wednesday night.

A brace by Vusumzi Mncube, penalty by Chibuike Ohizu, goals by Daniel Cardoso, Roderick Kabwe and Tashreeq Morris were enough to see Brandon Truter's side advance comfortably to the last 16 of the tournament.
