Bafana Bafana legend Mark Fish has expressed his delight at the squad Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has selected for the back-to-back African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Liberia on the 24th of March and 28th of March respectively.

Broos has selected 8 players from Mamelodi Sundowns including in-form striker Cassius Mailula who has scored 8 goals so far in the DSTV Premiership while also choosing Orlando Pirates top goalscorer scorer Monnapule Saleng.

With Percy Tau and Lyle Foster also included in the squad, Fish believes the squad has a good balance to it and it should bring all the six points home.

"I think we have a good formidable squad that can get us the desired results in both games, I am not surprised at the number of Sundowns players the coach has selected because we can clearly see how dominant Sundowns is in all competitions so I am confident in the squad we have for these two matches," Fish said.

Bafana who lost 2-1 to Morocco last year in the opening group K encounter will atleast need to beat Liberia twice before they meet with Morocco in June to keep their hopes of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations alive and Fish believes that can be achieved.

"These two matches are a must win for Bafana Bafana and I expect them to win both home and away because there's no reason why Bafana cannot overcome Liberia, they have been doing well in the friendlies before so they should maintain that momentum and deliver when it's most needed,"

With a lot been said about how Bafana need to finally qualify for the showpiece, Fish furthermore said, "The current Bafana Bafana crop need to understand and realise the importance of qualifying for the Afcon because this is one tournament South Africa must be part of every time it comes, its part of the South African football culture."

With Bafana last participating in the FIFA World Cup during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Fish also emphasised on the importance of Bafana using the Afcon as a stepping stone to qualify for the World Cup.

"It's high time Bafana Bafana also qualify for the FIFA World Cup and the Afcon is a great opportunity for Bafana to use as a stepping stone to position themselves for the World Cup, the players need to see the bigger picture and motivate themselves to achieve this feat." Fish added.

Bafana will head to a training camp on the 19th of March before playing Liberia on the 24th at the Orlando Pirates.
