An Olisa Ndah own goal in the 89th minute of the match handed Kaizer Chiefs all the bragging rights and the much needed 3 points at the FNB Stadium in the latest edition of the Soweto Derby on Saturday afternoon.

Ndah who started off on the bench came on in the 65th minute as a substitute for Thembinkosi Lorch after Orlando Pirates captain Innocent Maela was shown a straight red card in the 60th minute after he fouled Kaizer Chiefs' Christian Saile at the edge of the box.

In a rather dull Soweto Derby particularly in the second half, Chiefs were the more dominant side in the first half creating chances that saw Ashley Du Preez cause a couple of problems for the Pirates defense.

The sides went into halftime with the scoreline still 0-0 and Pirates came back into the second half looking to use the pace of Monnapule Saleng in a bid to penetrate the defense of Amakhosi however, Chiefs were up to the task and managed to handle the midfielder.

With a crowd capacity of 78 182 fans attending the match, Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane made a couple of changes bringing in the likes of Caleb Bimenyimana, Kgaogelo Sekgota and Happy Mashiane looking to unlock the stagnant Pirates defense.

The match seemed to be heading in a draw when a moment of confusion happened as man of the match Edmilson Dove crossed a long ball in Pirates' penalty box looking to find Bimenyimana only for Ndah to fleek the ball into his own net not seeing his keeper Sipho Chaine was off the line.

With only a few minutes left, Chiefs managed to consolidate matters until referee Abongile Tom blow the final whistle to set the Amakhosi bench into a frenzy as the Glamour Boys have now defeated Pirates for the fifth time in the DSTV Premiership.

The victory means that Chiefs are now on 31 points in the DSTV Premiership log still occupying the 5th spot and Pirates have now dropped to 4th place on the log also on 31 points.
