Mamelodi Sundowns claim the bragging rights again

By Neo Poho

Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Orlando Pirates again in the DSTV Premiership when the side from Chloorkop claimed all the bragging rights with a slender 1-0 victory at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Sundowns scored as early as the 6th minute when a quick interplay between Neo Maema and Themba Zwane found Cassius Mailula in space.

Mailula then slammed the ball past Pirates keeper Sipho Chaine to score another goal against Pirates after having scored in the reverse fixture last year December.

The victory means that Sundowns have now won all their 4 matches against the two Soweto giants, having defeated Kaizer Chiefs twice in the league already, Orlando Pirates have now followed too.

With Rhulani Mokwena's charges sitting comfortably on 55 points on the log standings, Sundowns have now won 15 consecutive league matches becoming the first team to achieve that milestone.

Meanwhile its back to the drawing board for Orlando Pirates who played with a better sense of purpose and direction in the second half and for the first 10-15 minutes of the stanza against Sundowns.

The defeat means Pirates' three match winning streak has been cut short however, they will still maintain the 4th spot on the table with 28 points after 19 matches.
