By Lindelwa Masuku
In the realm of art, Richard 'Specs' Ndimande emerges as a compelling force, driven by a profound inspiration that stems from the social ills afflicting South Africa and the world at large.
Hailing from Johannesburg, Ndimande is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative repertoire encompasses sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, and mixed media. His work serves as a poignant reflection of the prevailing issues within society, urging viewers to confront the complexities that surround them.
Ndimande's artistic journey appears to be a natural extension of his very being, as he humbly suggests, "I would like to think that I did not become an artist, but rather was born one." From an early age, his innate creativity manifested through sketches, paintings, and even the creation of his own toys.
This unwavering passion for artistic expression led him to pursue art as a subject in high school and later earn a Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Johannesburg, solidifying his commitment to his craft.
