Sundowns meet CR Belouizdad while Al Ahly entertain Raja Casablanca

Reigning DSTV Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns were drawn with CR Belouizdad in the quarterfinals of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.

Sundowns advanced to the quarterfinals after finishing first on 14 points in group B of the CAF Champions League ahead of Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

After six matches in the group, Sundowns won 4 matches including the famous 5-2 victory against Al Ahly at Loftus Versfeld with the reverse fixture playing out to an entertaining 2-2 draw, the second draw for Masandawana was when they played 1-1 against Al Hilal away from home.

With the Brazilians coach Rhulani Mokwena being confident that his side can go all the way to clinch their second CAF title, Sundowns will be heading into the quarterfinals clash with the Algerian side with the semifinals spot on their sight.

Runners up in group B, Al Ahly will have a daunting task when they meet Raja Casablanca in the last 8 after the Moroccoan side won group C with a convincing 16 points after six matches.

Al Ahly had to wait for the last group match against Al Hilal to secure their spot in the last 8 with a convincing 3-0 victory at the Cairo International Stadium, both teams finished the group on 10 points however, Al Ahly had the better goal difference.

Meanwhile, Simba SC will entertain defending champions Wydad Casablanca while runners up in group A, JS Kabylie welcome group D winners Esperance de Tunis.
