“The best of the ANC is still substantially worse than the worst of the DA”

The second day of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) Debate concluded yesterday, with the opposition parties having a bone to pick once again with President Cyril Ramaphosa and the ANC. This is as Ramaphosa presented the SONA last week.

Opposition parties seem to be incredibly displeased by the work of President Cyril Ramaphosa as well as his cabinet. This has been evident in the criticism shown over the past two days in the SONA debate.

With the first day having seen its fair share of drama and insults thrown within the National Assembly, the second day proved to not be that different.

Among those to express its dissatisfaction was the Democratic Alliance, of which through a range of its members, took to the podium to criticise the ANC’s Cadre Deployment Policy as well as the education system in South Africa.

According to the DA’s Dennis Ryder, any cabinet reshuffle will lead to little change as the same “rotten ANC members” are already present, adding that “the best of the ANC is still substantially worse than the worst of the DA”

Ryder further expressed that the country does not need a cabinet shuffle, it needs a government shuffle.

Meanwhile, the DA’s Baxolile Nodada shed light on the party’s view on basic education as well as the unemployment rate among the youth.

According to Nodada, The government’s focus on quantity instead of quality has led to the fabrication of the numbers of those who completed matric.

Nodada further expressed that the legacy of the ANC is “the new form of oppression” for many people in how they have deprived its people of education and employment.

With the SONA debate having concluded, President Cyril Ramaphosa will have the difficult task of presenting his reply speech today.
