Thermal Camera shows "proof of life" amid Christian Atsu's search

Miners have been deployed in search of Christian Atsu as work machines at the site of the apartment block that housed Atsu have halted work.

Atsu has been missing from last week as an Earthquake hit the Southern and Central area of Turkey and Northern & Western side of Syria on the 6th of February 2023.

On the 13th of February one miner Salim Manav provided an update on Twitter that a relative to Atsu's team manager Taner Savut is also believed to be under the rubble.

"The Renaissance site was looked at with a thermal camera and 3 different sounds were heard as the miners entered. Let's support urgently!," the tweet read.

With the tweet caption confirming that the building complex had been subjected to checks by a thermal camera and that it had shown evidence that people were alive in the rubble.

The news follows the urgent call from Atsu's partner Marie-Claire Rupio that equipment should be sent to the collapsed building where Atsu was living.

Rupio furthermore mentioned that the news of Atsu's missing have been devastating for the children since they have heard the news on radio.

"I appeal to the Hatayspor club, the Turkish authorities and the British government to send out the government to get people out of the rubble, especially my partner and the father of my children," Rupio said.

The Earthquake has since from the 6th of February claimed the lives of over 35 000 people across the two countries with the death toll continuing to rise while many more thousands of people have been injured in the process.
