One of Chef Channa's exquisite and unique creations

1. My personal style signifier…

Well, I'm really not a major fan of the industrial Chef uniform. I mean those black and white check pants.

When I decided to start to go private and host my own culinary events I wanted a unique look attached to my brand.

Purple has always been my favourite colour and so I decided to change up my culinary uniform.

2. In my fridge you’ll always find…

In my fridge you'll always find my favourite herb Coriander. Coriander has a beautiful aroma and adds a lot of flavour to almost every dish ranging from garnish to salads, dressings and sauces. besides being way more well known for cooking in curries.

3. The last thing I bought and loved…

Air Force Key ring ; one of the most frustrating things is losing my keys in my handbag or car.

4. No party is complete without…

Me on the dance floor, I’ve been told I’m quite the dancer and hype women when everyone is too shy to dance.

5. The best souvenir I’ve brought home…

Mini Qatar airline plane … it’s right next to my Earth ball …to remind myself to travel every chance I get.

6. My drink of choice…

Oooo … this one is a little tricky, my Go to for a date would be Beyerskloof Pinotage. On a regular day for lunch, I really enjoy a good frozen margarita or a good cocktail.

7. The best book I’ve read in the past year…

I’m not much of a reader to be honest. The last book I’ve actually read to the end is Lady in waiting by Jackie Kendall with Debby Jones

8. The thing I couldn’t do without…

This is probably a cliché; It would be my phone. The main device I use literally 80% of my day would be my phone, to communicate with clients, suppliers and business partners.

9. An indulgence I would never forget…

When I think of the word indulgence the first thing I think about is food, a first time experience and something I revisit in my memory very often and that for me when I lived in Kentucky, USA for a year. Where I assisted in opening a restaurant at a Bourbon Distillery.

10. My favourite style icon…

My style icons are Sarah Langa and Cherné Africa. Sara Langa’s style is very elegant, clean and shouts Boss Lady. Cherné Africa’s Style is very chic and unique. She gives me red carpet model, timeless, nature and innovative kind of energy.

11. I’ve recently discovered…

I’ve recently discovered that self-awareness is a superpower through the Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory.

12. The beauty staples I’m never without…

I’m never without a good lip-gloss or lip therapy.

13. An object I would never part with…

My Bible

14. My wellbeing guru…

My well-being Guru or something I see as therapy would be dancing. There is something therapeutic about getting on the dancefloor and busting a move or two.

15. My favourite apps…

Instagram
TikTok
WhatsApp

16. The work of art that changed everything for me…

Culinary Arts as a whole. It's so mind blowing how far culinary actually goes.
Besides being a chef at a hotel or restaurant.

It branches into Gastronomy/ Science, Business management, Travel, TV- personalities and entertainment, food photography and videography, Teaching, Health and Medical Benefits, Just to mention a few.

17. The last music I downloaded…

I am very much a fan of Afro Beats & Latin music. Another one of my favourite things to do is dance and one of the best ways for my creative juices to flow is with some Afro Beats.

18. My favourite building...

I’m more into nature than I’m into Man Made structures. Nature is mostly where I get my creative ideas from.

19. When I need to feel inspired I…

I travel locally or to the outskirts or do something that’s on my bucket list. Either something to get my adrenaline pumping or something to relax. The next thing on my bucket list is Skydiving.
