Bafana Bafana went head to head with Sao Tome and Prince at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday evening  for the Africa Cup Of Nations  (AFCON) 2022 qualifiers. Bafana took a  2-0 victory win. The two are scheduled to meet again at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium on Monday afternoon.

The breakthrough in the Friday evening clash came through Tau, who won a penalty and converted it from the spot in the 55th minute. Speaking  to kickoff after the game, the Anderlecht midfielder noted how difficult it was to break the islanders’ defence.

“We tried many movements in the first-half but we were a bit tense,” Tau said after being named Man of the Match. “In the second-half we were able to get in the right spaces and turn them and get behind them and it worked out pretty well.” Percy Tau

Banyana Banyana also tasted their fair share of victory over the weekend when they won 2-1 in the  Cosafa Women’s’  Champions League game against Botswana. Banyana has bodly written their mark in the history books, having won the league seventh times and four times consecutively.  Goals from Sibulele Holweni and Gabriela Selgado paved the way for Banyana's victory.

It was a good weekend for the two national teams, as they raised  South Africa's flag high . Now the question is,  can Bafana continue from where they left off in today's game. Can they bring another win home as they face Sao Tome and Prince in their race for AFCON 2022.
