Weekly Round Up : What made headlines this week?

South Africa has had an eventful week, from top politicians being arrested to The President easing lock down  regulations below we have summarised  some of the stories which made headlines.

#Ace
Topping the headlines this week was the arrest of ANC Secretary General Ace Magushule . The SG was served with a warrent of arrest by the hawks on Tuesday. He handed himself over to the hawks on friday morning before his scheduled court appearance at the bloemfontein magistrate court where where was awarded a bail of R200 000.

#Unemployment
Also making headlines was the increased rate of unemployed people in South Africa Statistic South Africa issued  a report for the third qauter. According to the expanded definition of unemployment has increased by 1.1 percentage points to 43.1% in the third quarter of 2020 compared to the second quarter . The Quarterly Labour Force Survey report for the third quarter of 2020 reflect that the number of employed people increased by 543,000 to 14.7 million compared to the second quarter.

#BhekiCele
The Minister of Police Bheki Cele returned to  Bethlehem in the Free State for a rural safety imbizo. Farmers gathered to raise their concerns and current issues they are facing. The MEC for roads, transport and community safety in the Free State,  Sam Mashinini also attended the imbizo.  On the agenda was the brutal murders of farmers as well as stock theft.

#Ramaphosa
 On Wednesday night President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation on the status of COVID-19 prevention measures this comes after his meeting with the National Coronavirus Command Council. Ramaphosa announced that the  National state of disaster has been extended to the 15th of December. This serves as an attempt in fighting the resurgence of the pandemic. Ramaphosa also announced changes in the level lock down regulations :
Alcohol sales will go back to normal and International travel restrictions will be lifted.
