Following the Conclusion of the ANC’s NEC Lekgotla, the party held a media briefing to address all the matters discussed over the two-day event. The briefing was run by the newly appointed Spokesperson of the ANC, Mahlengi Bhengu Motsiri as well as the Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula.

The ANC NEC held their first Lekgotla after their Elective Conference that took place at the end of last year. The Lekgotla, which was a two day event, saw the discussion of various issues like the energy crisis as well as solutions to corruption and the lack of service delivery.

Speaking to the media, ANC SG, Fikile Mbalula emphasised the party’s ambition to end loadshedding in the next 12 months.

Mbalula added that the NEC has called on all to work on load shedding together and has since called for the declaration of a national disaster to work on the crisis.

According to the Secretary General, the party would like to work on issues of infrastructure damage as well as investment to ensure that it is all addressed.

The ANC has further expressed that they have held meetings with various experts where the option of declaring a National state of disaster was considered.

With many solutions to issues seemingly proposed, eyes are on the expected Cabinet Lekgotla that is taking place on 1 February 2023.
