Amakhosi coach urges club fans to trust the process

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki believes the growing confidence among his players will allow them to mature into a formidable side in the 2023/24 season.

Ntseki appeared to be satisfied and happy, but calm as his men earned their first win in the new season against Cape Town City FC in the quarter-final of the MTN 8 on Sunday afternoon.

While Amakhosi came back from a goal down to salvage the 2-1 victory, Ntseki is happy with how his team showed character in securing the all-important win.

Ntseki says his team is making progress and is at the point where they are embracing and trusting the process that the technical team has set out.

This comes after Chiefs faced difficulties in pre-season, losing their two games against Yanga and Township Rollers during their African tour while also drawing 0-0 against Chippa United in the opening round of the DStv Premiership and also losing 2-1 to Sundowns in the second round, however, against Cape Town City, there was a hint of dominance and willingness to fight and win.

"We came into the game after we lost the game at Sundowns and we needed to give a good performance and I must say the players responded in terms of implementing the plan today, from the first minute, we could see that they really wanted to be in this game.

We were putting pressure on the opponents, and we did not give them much space to play and I think the counter-pressing was very good, it was spot on," Ntseki said.

Ntseki was also pleased with his players’ response as he believes there is a collective belief in the squad that can propel the team to greater heights.

“The performance of the players can tell a story that they are believing in themselves, they believe in what we’re working on and I would also urge the fans to trust the process.

The process has various stages and the first stage we experienced it against Cape Town City with a win and qualifying for the semi-finals of the MTN 8, they were very positive and the attitude was good," Ntseki added.

The Glamour Boys will now turn their attention to the DStv Premiership as they face TS Galaxy on Sunday the 20th of August 2023 at the Mbombela Stadium.
