Ahead of their friendly match against Young Africans on Saturday the 22nd of July 2023, Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has highlighted the importance of their tour to Tanzania as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2023/24 football season.

Chiefs arrived in Dar es Salaam aboard a Fly Airlink flight on Thursday night and were welcomed by a small group of Young Africans fans at the airport.

With Amakhosi looking to reclaim their glory days back in the upcoming DStv Premiership season, Khune has vowed they will not take the clash against Yanga lightly.

"It’s not our first time in Tanzania we were here to play Simba, which is a big club, just like Yanga is a big club, we are also preparing for a very long season because we are a big club in South Africa with a large fan base so we have to make sure we win the game as that will put us in a good position for the 2023/24 season.

We are preparing for the new season and we will not take this game lightly," Khune said.

Meanwhile the Glamour Boys' latest signing Ranga Chivaviro has reflected on how great it is to be back in Tanzania again citing that the team has received a very warm welcome upon their arrival.

"It feels great to be here again, the last time I was here, everyone welcomed me so well so it feels great to be in Tanzania.

I am not expecting anything less than another full stadium on Saturday when we take on another giant in the African landscape of football and I got excited when the invite came because I know people here love football," Chivaviro added.

The friendly match will be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday evening, kick-off is at 18:00, South African time.
