Amakhosi Sporting Director talks about why Chiefs signed Luke Fleurs

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. has opened up on why Amakhosi signed versatile defender Luke Fleurs.

Fleurs joined Chiefs on a two-year contract, with an option for a further season after parting ways with SuperSport United in September 2023.

With Fleurs alluding that he is ready to play his part in restoring the glory days to the Amakhosi faithful, Motaung Jr. has explained why the club decided to fortify their defensive unit with the signing of the Under/23 International.

"We are very excited and happy to have Luke join us, the young man has great technical abilities and I think he will fit really well into how we want to approach the game and the kind of football we would like to play going forward.

Of course, being a youth international and having experienced the Olympics, as well as having many PSL games under his belt, we believe his attributes will benefit the team," Motaung Jr. said.

Having already spent a bit of time at the Naturena training pitch, the club will be happy to have a quality operator such as Fleurs available for selection against Golden Arrows on Saturday the 28th of October 2023 and Motaung anticipates that his promising development will see him involved before too long.

"We are looking to get everyone on board as soon as possible and we know that Luke is fit and raring to go, so we will leave it up to the technical staff to make that call, but we are hoping to see him playing for us soon," he added.
