Amakhosi without Yusuf Maart and Edson Castillo for their Cape Town Trip

By Neo Poho

Kaizer Chiefs will be without their regular midfield duo of Yusuf Maart and Edson Castillo in their upcoming crucial match against Cape Town City on the 30th of March 2024.

Amakhosi have slipped to seventh place in the standings, having won only one of their last five games.

Despite this, Chiefs remain within striking distance of the CAF inter-club competition spots.

However, to avoid losing ground to teams above them, Chiefs must secure a positive outcome in their challenging away fixture against fifth-placed City, who currently hold a two-point advantage in the standings.

Both teams are struggling for form, with City winning just one of their last seven league games and suffering defeats in their last two matches.

This encounter holds significant importance for both sides, as City are trailing second-placed Orlando Pirates by two points, while Chiefs are four points adrift.

A loss for either team would deal a severe blow to their aspirations of qualifying for the CAF Champions League.

Chiefs will have to navigate their trip to Cape Town without stand-in captain Yusuf Maart and midfielder Edson Castillo, both of whom are serving suspensions.

City has enjoyed a favorable record against Chiefs in recent encounters, winning five out of the last six league games, including a 1-0 victory at FNB Stadium earlier in the season.

The match is scheduled to take place at Athlone Stadium and kick-off is set for 15:30, promising an intense and pivotal battle on the pitch.
