Bruce Bvuma aims to cement his place in Amakhosi's starting XI

Ahead of the resumption of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season, Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has revealed that he is looking to cement his place in the side's regular starting XI.

This comes after Bvuma signed a two-year contract with the Glamour Boys while also having an option to extend the contract for a further year.

Prior to the AFCON break, Bvuma kept numerous clean sheets, occasionally pulling off stupendous saves to repel the opposition, and he will be looking forward to continuing from where he left off in the second half of the season.

"Every goalkeeper wants to keep clean sheets, but in truth, it is teamwork that produces them and I appreciate the protection from the defenders, as well as the midfielders and even the strikers, because defence begins at the front.

Personally, I am happy with my form in the training camp and I am really looking forward to the league resuming this coming weekend," Bvuma said.

The 28-year old has also expressed his gratitude to the management of the club including for believing in him throughout his development days at Naturena.

"Firstly I would like to thank the Almighty for blessing me, and I would also like to thank the club, the Chairman and all the management for believing in me and giving me another chance to be at Kaizer Chiefs.

I have been here for 10 years now, if I count the development days, so I am just grateful that they still trust me and I want to repay their faith in me by performing on the field throughout the contract," Bvuma added.

Amakhosi face Royal AM at the Harry Gwala stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday afternoon in their first DStv Premiership clash of the new year.

Kick-off in that encounter is 15:30 pm.
