"I don't regret joining Kaizer Chiefs" - Sibongiseni Mthethwa

Amakhosi midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa has reiterated that he doesn't regret joining Kaizer Chiefs despite not having a great spell as yet since joining the Glamour Boys in September 2023 from Stellenbosch FC.

Mthethwa who has struggled to replicate the form that made him one of the most sought after players in the transfer market, has mentioned that he knows why he joined Chiefs and he doesn't regret his decision because of the challenges that are currently happening at the club.

"I know what I have decided on when I signed for Chiefs, I also know exactly what I am doing and irrespective of the challenges and the current situation at the club, I am not going to run away.

I don't regret my decision and it would never happen that since I am now inside and I am confronted by challenges, I want to run away from them," Mthethwa said.

While the Soweto giants seek to revive their league campaign under the guidance of interim coach, Cavin Johnson, Mthethwa has described his relationship with the former Al Ahly assistant coach as a positive and healthy one.

"I am enjoying my time at Chiefs because I am playing my football freely and coach Johnson has really been supportive so I know I am free under his guidance.

All that I have to do now is to overcome the challenges that I am facing so that I can be able to achieve my goals with the team, as long as I am part of this team, I have to die for the team," Mthethwa added.

After being knocked out by Milford FC 5-4 on penalties in the Nedbank Cup last 32 this past Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs will now shift their focus on the DStv Premiership as they host Moroka Swallows on Saturday the 2nd of March at FNB Stadium.

Kick-off in that encounter is 17:45 in the evening.
