"I think the team has signed quality players" - Given Msimango

Ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 DStv Premiership season, Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango has revealed that he believes Amakhosi has recruited quality players that will fit into the coach's plans and the culture of the team.

Msimango joined Chiefs from TS Galaxy earlier on this month (July) as one of seven new players to arrive at Naturena during the transfer window.

The other six players to have joined Amakhosi include Tebogo Potsane, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Ranga Chivaviro, Edson Castillo, Pule Mmodi and Mduduzi Mdantsane.

Having lost 1-0 to Young Africans SC during the past weekend at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Msimango believes that with a few more games together, the team will soon start gelling together.

“I think the club has recruited quality players, quality individuals that fit what the coach wants and fit into the culture of the team, it's just a matter of time before we all get in sync and understand each other a bit better so that when we do step onto the pitch at home, we can play every game to the utmost of our abilities to deliver the result that our supporters deserve which is winning games," Msimango said.

While the former TS Galaxy captain partnered with Ditlhokwe as a defensive duo against Yanga SC, Msimango also believes there are areas of improvement that they still need to work on.

"It was good playing with TT [Thatayaone] and obviously between the two of us there are areas of improvement that we need to work on and the partnership can only get better with more games, not just training but competitive games like this one against Yanga was just the first of many.

“So we will look into that with TT and try and rectify but we are slowly building the relationship and looking forward to what is to come," Msimango added.

While the 26-year-old is determined to help Chiefs get off to a good start in the league, the Glamour Boys will continue their pre-season preparations with a tie against Botswana champions Township Rollers on Saturday the 29th of July 2023.
