"It is a dream come true" - Sithebe

Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has mentioned that playing for Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby is a dream come true.

Sithebe joined Kaizer Chiefs from AmaZulu during the beginning of the 2022/23 DSTV Premiership season and although the 30 year old hasn't really lived up to the expectations at Naturena, he surely will be looking to make an impact in the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to Sithebe ahead of the match, the Newcastle born player mentioned that playing in the Soweto Derby is a dream come true, "I am very excited to be playing in the Soweto Derby for Kaizer Chiefs because it is a big dream come true, I grew up watching and supporting Chiefs so playing for the team today confirms that indeed dreams come true," Sithebe said.

Ironically Sithebe's role model at Chiefs was Siphiwe Tshabalala who has the same dreadlocks hairstyle as the 30 year old,"I have always looked up to Tshabalala during his days at Chiefs, he was an excellent player that gave his all for the team and that is one of the attributes I am also applying in my style of play here at Naturena," Sithebe added.

Kaizer Chiefs won the reverse fixture 1-0 last year in October at the FNB Stadium through a Yusuf Maart goal and Sithebe who came on as a substitute in the second half reflects on how great his first Soweto Derby experience was.

"The atmosphere was great, seeing the fans come out in large numbers like that was a bit overwhelming but these are the moments that make up the Soweto Derby, I am also glad that we managed to win the first derby and we are looking forward to claiming the bragging rights again,"

With Amakhosi heading into Saturday's Soweto Derby at the back of a 3-2 loss to Golden Arrows over the past weekend, Sithebe and his teammates will look to bounce back in an outstanding way against their arch-rivals at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides are also in the hunt for a CAF Champions League spot for next season with Kaizer Chiefs occupying the 5th spot on the DSTV Premiership table with 28 points, five points adrift of second place SuperSport United while Orlando Pirates are sitting comfortably on the third spot with 31 points two points behind SuperSport United.

Kick-off at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon is set to be 15:30.
