Kaizer Chiefs calls for patience

By Neo Poho

Kaizer Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa has called on the club’s supporters to rally behind the team and trust the process amid calls for head coach Molefi Ntseki to be fired.

This comes after Ntseki and his troops lost 1-0 to TS Galaxy this past Sunday at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The loss saw Chiefs remain winless in their opening three DStv Premiership matches after having already lost to Mamelodi Sundowns and drew to Chippa United earlier on this month.

The loss to TS Galaxy was met with a lot of criticism as Furious Chiefs supporters threw objects at the club’s technical team including Molefi Ntseki after the match.

This is not the first time that Chiefs’ technical team has been escorted to the tunnel by the police after Arthur Zwane suffered the same attack last season.

However, amid all these actions and calls for Ntseki to depart, Maphosa has pleaded with the supporters to give the coach time to turn things around.

"The coach is fine, he has taken what happened in Mbombela in his stride as it comes with territory, we are trying our best to return the club to its former glory days but at the same time, we can’t promote violence at the stadiums because we are still about love and peace.

So we are just asking our fans to trust the process as we will turn the corner soon and happiness will soon come, the club is managed well and the people who are in charge have played the game, they know what they are doing," Maphosa said.

While there has also been a lot of criticism about how the club hasn't done that much to look into the internal processes of what has been happening in the club, Maphosa has re-assured the supporters of the Glamour Boys that the internal processes have began and they are confident things will work out sooner than later.

"There are internal processes that are looking into what’s happening at the club and the technical team is working hard to fix this," Maphosa added.

Amakhosi next face AmaZulu on the Saturday the 26th of August 2023 at the FNB Stadium.
