Netball South Africa unveil the final 12 players to represent SA in the Netball World Cup

Following the fifteen names released by Netball South Africa on the 19th of May 2023 in Randburg, the federation has taken another step to release a final list of twelve players who are part of the final team with three players as reserves.
The final 12 players that will represent the Spar Proteas during the 2023 Netball World Cup will see Bongiwe Msomi lead the team as the captain while Karla Pretourious will be the vice-captain.
Khanyisa Chawane, Izette Griesel, Phumza Maweni, Lenize Potgieter, Nicola Smith, Jeante Strydom, Nichole Taljaard, Elmere van der Berg, Shadine van der Merwe and Ine-Mari Venter were selected as the remaining 10 players that will don the green and gold for South Africa during the World Cup.
Owethu Ngubane, Refiloe Nketsa and Lefebre Rademan are the only three reserves for the team.
Upon the announcement Netball South Africa president, Cecelia Molokwane said, "As a federation, we have given coach Norma and the management team all the support they needed in preparing the best team for the World Cup.
This will be for the first time in sixty years that a Netball World Cup is hosted on African soil, therefore our expectation for podium finish as hosts is a fair one, we can’t host and become spectators in our own backyard so we need to make sure that South Africa and other African countries make it to the podium on the 6th of August 2023.
From Netball South Africa, we are pleased with the selected players, and we know for sure that they will do well because we are throwing all the much-needed support to the team, and we have full confidence in that and what they can deliver for us, this is certainly their one chance to write their names in the history books."
As the World Cup commences on the 28th of July until the 6th of August 2023, the Spar Proteas will meet on the 14th of July 2023 in Cape Town for their final training camp.
