Patrick Mabedi speaks out on Ntseki's appointment

Molefi Ntseki's appointment as Kaizer Chiefs' latest head coach has left many Amakhosi's faithful shocked including club legend Patrick Mabedi.

Ntseki was appointed as the Glamour Boys' seventh head coach in 5 years on Wednesday the 28th of June 2023 replacing Arthur Zwane who has been demoted to the assistant coach's role alongside Dillon Sheppard.

Although Amakhosi's management believe Ntseki is the right man to bring back the glory days at Naturena and end the trophy drought ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season, Mabedi begs to differ.

"The head coach role is a very critical position and I believe Ntseki should have still remained as the technical advisor and allow Zwane to continue as the head coach of the team.

Arthur has played for the team, he knows the culture, the players and given a chance he has the capabilities to change the team, but maybe because they were working together last season and since Arthur is still the assistant, there will be a difference," Mabedi said.

Under the guidance of Zwane, Chiefs managed to only finish fifth on the log with 44 points in 30 matches however, amid those statistics, Mabedi still insists that Chiefs should not lose Zwane.

"They should not lose Arthur because he still needs to gain experience to coach the team, he knows the system of the team and he should remain there.

Another element that is going to be key for the team heading into the new season is the quality of players they bring in because Chiefs is a big team and it needs players that can fit into the system and play for what the team holds," Mabedi added.

Heading into the new season, Amakhosi have already acquired the services of Pule Mmodi, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Given Msimango.
