Thabo Mooki confident Amakhosi will turn their fortunes around

Amid Amakhosi's poor start to the 2023/24 PSL season, Kaizer Chiefs legend Thabo Mooki has identified several positives in the team’s recent performances that can help the team improve and contend for the league title and domestic cups.

Amakhosi are currently eighth on the DStv Premiership table after nine matches and have only won three matches while losing four and drawing three.

Having also being knocked out of the MTN8 semi-finals by Mamelodi Sundowns, Mooki believes that Chiefs can take a number of things from those performances as they look to restore the glory days.

"I watched them play against Sundowns and Cape Town City recently and I was impressed in that game because they had really improved from the previous matches they played.

There was movement, they kept the ball well, and ball possession was very high, the structure of the team can tell you that they were disciplined it was just unfortunate that they couldn’t score," Mooki said.

Mooki, who made close to 350 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs in a 15-year career, is confident that Chiefs are on the right track and will start winning games again soon, however, he warns that it will also take discipline and unity of purpose to turn the corner.

"It’s not easy, it also happened to us as there was a period when we also struggled but it was all about coming together and executing the coach’s instructions.

Talking amongst yourself as players is important, so you need to be disciplined and make sure you put a smile on the supporters’ faces because that's the most important thing, for them to see you guys winning makes their hearts happy," Mooki added.

The Glamour Boys are back in action on Saturday the 21st of October in the last 16 of the Carling Knockout Cup at the FNB Stadium.
