The Cavin Johnson era begins with an away trip to Golden Arrows

By Neo Poho

Newly appointed Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson will lead his troops for the very first time to the Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Amakhosi lock horns with Golden Arrows.

Johnson was appointed as the Glamour Boys' interim coach on Monday the 23rd of October 2023 after Chiefs parted ways with Molefi Ntseki by mutual consent.

Assisted by Dillon Sheppard, Johnson will look to guide Amakhosi to their fourth DStv Premiership victory of the season against a well rejuvenated Golden Arrows side that is currently sitting second on the log.

Ahead of the encounter against Abafana Bes'Thende, Johnson is likely to be without the services of Brandon Peterson and Ashley Du Preez due to injury.

Du Preez's injury is a setback for Johnson, who wants to get his reign as Chiefs coach off to a winning start.

Meanwhile, Edmilson Dove also had to be substituted in Amakhosi's last match against AmaZulu on this past Saturday after sustaining an injury and could be another player to sit it out for the encounter against Arrows.

Kick-off at the Mpumalanga Stadium is 15:30.
