Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has revealed that the MTN 8 is one of Amakhosi's main priorities in 2023/24 PSL season.

Speaking at the 2023/24 MTN 8 launch on Thursday afternoon, Ntseki is confident Chiefs will win the 16th edition of the MTN 8 and end the 8-years trophy drought at Naturena.

In order for Chiefs to get their hands on the new MTN 8 trophy, they will first have to overcome Cape Town City on Sunday in the quarter-final clash at the Athlone Stadium and Ntseki is well aware of the threat the citizens poses.

"Firstly I just want to say congratulations to the club for qualifying for this season's MTN 8, all the credit goes to coach Arthur Zwane and his technical team last season, it's a new era now and we want to do well in the competition.

Last season we were booted out in the semi-finals and this season we want to fix that, we want to go all the way and win the trophy because it has been a long time we have won it, so I am putting it out there to our fans that the MTN 8 is one of our priorities and we will do everything we can to win it, we obviously need to defeat Cape Town City in order to go through to the next round and we will," Ntseki said.

Despite losing to Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday the 9th of August 2023, Ntseki alluded that the team has put the defeat behind them and they have now turned their attention to the MTN 8 quarter-final fixture ahead.

"We lost our last game in the league and Cape Town City won their last league match so they will certainly head into the clash on Sunday oozing with confidence however, that doesn't bother us at all," Ntseki added.

Kick-off at the Athlone Stadium on Sunday is 15:00 o'clock.
